Be: the journey

journey

noun, plural journeys

  1. a traveling from one place to another, usually taking a rather long time;    trip: "a six-day journey across the desert."
  2. a distance, course, or area traveled or suitable for traveling: "a desert journey"
  3. a period of travel: "a week's journey."

The thought of writing "my journey" makes me want to role my own eyes.
But it's such an apt word, and I am in fact on a journey to wellness.

Mind, Body and Soul meeting at a focal point, joining together and allowing me to sprinkle glitter with my every step.

So I figured I'd share a little insight from the starting line.

For as long as I can remember I've struggled with my weight.
Trying different diets and work outs, losing a little here, gaining a bit there, a boring repetitive cycle.
The only time I ever really had success was the combination of a gym and their in house eating program, but as soon as I finished the "eating" program the kilo's piled back on. That was when I went back to eating actual food rather than replacing meals with shakes.

Continuing the same cycle with the same results, or lack of, I knew something else needed addressing. A shift in thoughts and a different mindset.
This is when I started building my team.
People who know what they are doing, people I trust.

It all started with some Rieki sessions with my gorgeous friend and Reiki Healer, Justine
Introducing a weekly yoga practice brought about many changes and a definite inner awareness to a mind and body connection.
The next step was finding my amazing kinesiologist Lauren who has really helped me connect the mind and body to spirit.
The newest member to team ME is my nutritionist.
For years I thought, despite being overweight, I was reasonably healthy. That was until I underwent a serious of tests that revealed my body wasn't working in breaking down food and I was struggling to hold onto the correct nutrients I needed, to not only assist with weight loss but overall optimum health.

There have been many revelations, tears, frustration and break-trough's and I know that my team isn't complete.
I do know though, that I am the leader. It doesn't matter how much healing  and advice I am given, I need to follow through and I need to be accountable.

I am now eating to my blood type, which has seen me go back to the old pescatarian diet I once followed. Cutting down on coffee (I'm supposed to be working towards giving it up, but I love it so!!!). Finding ways to exercise that are fun rather than being a chore and I'm really trying to find the time to fit more meditation in. I'm waving the self-love flag and really starting to believe this is it. I CAN DO IT.

These are the steps I'm taking and there is still much work to be done.
This is just the start of the "journey" to get back to Being Be.

Being: Welcome

Well hello there.

Welcome...............

Ummmm, now what?

Here I find myself with a fresh new space, millions of words and thoughts floating around my head and none of them slowing down enough to get out.

I've always loved the idea of being a writer, but sometimes it's a struggle.
Be it time, space or just making sense of the nonsense, I struggle to make writing a priority.
Then I worry about my voice.
I want to be authentic and honest, but sometimes the thought of exposing my thoughts to the world (wide web) is scary.
And then editing myself is even scarier, I mean why do I need to simmer down my thoughts?

So in saying that welcome.

Welcome to my sacred space -

To learn, to discover, to inspire and to my world of Being Be.

I hope you'll join me for the ride, I'm not promising to change your life,
but you never know............
